this is the json youre looking for

tried the wired model, was easy-ish to setup, but I wanted it wireless, and the big knob click was doa. So I ordered this and what a mess on first use, very confusing. Eventually I foudn this link and this is the real deal, can get you running in via or vial in seconds.

https://github.com/yushi-hattori/DOIO-KB16-02-Wireless-VIA

setup is painful, learning to use the anykey in via, learning the qmk language or using ai to get things going is all a pain, but the thing feels solid, it works once you get it rolling.

think of it as a little diy project and you'll be much happier.

got mine on whatageek as the wireless wasnt on amazon or keebmonkey, was lucky enough to get it in a sale for $83 which was the same price amazon charged for the wired version. also comapred to wired this one has a nice tilt to it rather than flat, and a bit more heft which feels nice.

I came from a corsair k95, the old one with the 18 key macro section on the side, and wanted to replace that with this. It is much less user friendly but Im getting there in the end, and kinda enjoying the projectness of it all.

just wish there was a way to save a function with a description and then reuse it, guss thats what text fiels are for.

just so we can all hate me for the upgrades, I paired this with a wooting two he which is the bae of keyboards, sound and feel and performance are next level. and just to over do it its prime day so gonna compare this against a razer streamdeck!

bonus!

this was really helpful also

Loving it!

Just purchased my Megalodon Triple Knob, and it has been a joy.
I see reviews complaining about failure to auto-recognize, and difficulty with customizing, and I have had none of those issues. Everything is working wonderfully, and I haven't had to do any sort of tweaking to a JSON file yet. Assigning commands and customizing the RGB lights has all been as simple as connecting to the via website.
If I could change one thing, it would be to have the big knob be even larger.

Unfortunately out of date

I recently purchase the Megalodon Triple knob Wireless macro pad after seeing a few videos about its usefulness, and I will say it's an amazing built piece of tech. Feels super sturdy, looks clean as hell, but the big issues it has is all down to the fact that it's not well maintained.
What I mean by that is, it requires you use a version of VIA that's old, it doesn't auto identify the device so you need to drop a json into VIA to make it work. It doesn't have customizability for the RGB which mine is set to pink since thats the version i got... however I'd love to change that to match with other RGBs i have. When unplugged and I reboot my PC i have to plug it in to be recognized otherwise I have to go through readding it in VIA.... Look, it's great, but it's also a pain. I have a Stream Deck I was hoping to not rely on finnicky software to utilize certain macros.... guess finnicky software is everywhere.

Great concept - Qquestionable execution

This device has so much potential - if the manufacturer paid attention to online reviews and customer comments.
The build of the unit itself is rock-solid. Nice and hefty, satisfyingly clicky keys. The knobs are nice and eeringly enjoyable to use.

That is where it ends.

The greatest pitfall is the software support and lack thereof.

For anyone reading this, the top left key will reset any presets on wake-up in bluetooth mode. Annoying.
The memory is rather restrictive and you will run out of storage for macros very quickly depending on the complexity of your keystroke patterns.

Use VIAL, not VIA. And even then you will need to find an appropriate JSON file from Github or Sourceforge or something. Keebmonkey support is bullshit lackluster and you will find more information online.

It appears that firmware updates cannot be used for the wireless model. Despite this being a common comment for online users since launch, nothing has been done.

While I regret buying this, I will tough it out - much like I wish the manufacturer would do with usability and support.

Buy it or don't. I don't care. Just know what you are getting into before pushing that Buy button.

No Firmware Updates, Bluetooth Issues, Knob issues.

I paid MORE, to have LESS!

The KB16B-02 is announced as an "advancement" over the previous version. But where?

Firmware Upgrades:

The most important feature is missing! Firmware Upgrades! The NON wireless version is BETTER as it supports firmware updates. New firmware versions support DELAYS in macros, which is a MUST-HAVE but are ONLY available to the KB16-01.

Bluetooth Function:

Good: It has Bluetooth...
Bad: Function is unclear, there is no button to switch between USB and Bluetooth. When you are in pairing mode you can switch between profiles, does this mean you can pair more than one device? Unplugging the USB cable does not always put the device back in Bluetooth mode. Then you need to press the Bluetooth button on the back and pair again. What is worse is that the F keys don't work via Bluetooth when assigned to the knobs but it does when connected via USB!

Knobs Function:

Can't switch profiles using the knobs. Instead of changing to the next profile it does send keys.

Build quality:

Good: The case is sturdy, the keys and knobs feel well made.
Bad: When plugging the USB cable in, you can see the OLED screen moving.

Software:

I use the software Vial (0.7.1) with side-load JSON "kb16b-02_v2.json" to program the KB16B-02, it's much better than the provided Software.

Other:

Not even some simple instructions are included.

Conclusion:

The biggest downer for me is the MISSING firmware upgrade function, I need delays in macros. Stay with the non wireless model if you don't want to be handicapped.

Broke quickly, no response from support

Not all knobs work with the wireless mode, VIA configuration is messy at best, it broke only a few weeks in and since then I havent heard once from support.

Gonna need a replacement

Needs better software integration with VIA, faulty RGB lights that won't turn off till you hit a random button combo. Can't customize a thing due to old software. I should have gotten the usb version because it's recognized by the latest version of VIA.
